Teach Me. I Am Here

By Evelyne Noel

Four letter words I like: Yoga, Noel, Love.

Three letters: Yes, Sit.

Two letters: Am, We.

Having earned my Level 1 TriYoga teacher certification, I was asked to describe my yoga journey.

Noel: entering into myself, calmly.

Love: learning about unconditional love.

Yes: receiving all that comes with equanimity.

Sit: the best pause, the place of regrouping, where the guiding system appears.

Am: having shed the shadows, a clear being-ness emerges.

We: community, a shared horizon to gaze at.

That’s it…. Or to  answer the question differently:

Iyengar teacher trainings and practices led me to TriYoga’s door and I liked the slowing down, the focus on Breath. I’ve taken a few teacher trainings – often without the intention to certify- because they help me refine my knowledge; questions arise followed by answers. Theresa’s kind and to the point feedback is a mirror full of discoveries much wider than the mat itself. Joining a community of like-minded people is a buoyant lift.

Currently, I teach TriYoga in a sun filled room, overlooking water and all its creatures.

I know the place that I want to hold in this life. It’s a well thought-out “Yes” kind of place, peacefully powerful. Two things got me here: Theresa’s devotion to the fidelity of the practice, her endlessly steady wanting to be there until we get it and my “yes” attitude that translates into: teach me, I am here.

Evelyne Noel has traveled extensively and now explores the wilds around her home on foot, bike or boat. A retired educator, she devotes her services to three grandsons. She cherishes the garden, her watercolors and the sweetness of friendships.
