Oh, The Places We’ve Been
By Theresa Shay
Over the past 25 years, TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania has sustained a steady commitment to supporting lives in Centre County and beyond, a commitment that has lasted across time and occurred in many places. Where did you first encounter the TriYoga Flow? I’d love to hear from you as I reflect on all the places we’ve been, and all the places we are going, as part of our Celebrate 25 Years series.
At the start of the Covid pandemic five years ago this month, TYCP operated three physical studios in Centre County: in Boalsburg, Spring Mills, and Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. On Sunday evening, March 15, 2020, an unanticipated era arrived. That evening, I logged onto my newly created Zoom account for TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania’s first-ever virtual community gathering. Online classes began the following day and have continued uninterrupted over the past five years.
This organization’s steady commitment to bringing the flow to lives on Earth has been made possible by our willingness and capacity to change when transformation is called for. This ability is central to what I teach when I share the practice of TriYoga. Life is constantly evolving. To live in alignment with that flux, we meet reality with our full presence, take one next step, and trust the divine flow.
The roots of TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania’s contributions to yoga in Centre County are visible throughout this county, even as our program of weekly classes has shifted to an online focus. At or near each of the three studios that were in operation when the pandemic arrived in 2020, yoga classes continue. The TriYoga practice touches the lives in profound and meaningful ways. Like a dandelion puffball expanding in all directions by air whistling through pursed lips, TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania scatters seeds that bring fresh energy everywhere those seeds land.
Over the past 25 years, TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania has operated studios in eight locations, in addition to my home studio in Spring Mills which currently serves as the central broadcasting location for the organization:
Downtown State College, Glennland Building (2000-2002)
Mt. Nittany Institute of Natural Health (2002-2010)
The Building on Stilts, South Allen Street (2010-2015)
TriYoga Boalsburg, on the Diamond (2015-2023)
One World Environmental Center in Spring Mills (2000-2007)
TriYoga Spring Mills at Old Gregg School Community Center (2007-2021)
TriYoga Bellefonte at Indigo Wrens Nest (2013-2018)
TriYoga Bellefonte on High Street (2018-2022)
Twenty-five years of steady service, a willingness to transform, and inspiration that endures marks a quarter century of activity rooted in Centre County. That dedication continues to evolve.
I am excited to announce that I will be introducing you to a new space in 2025, an exquisite project underway in Spring Mills, created with this community in mind: a place for events and trainings, a place to gather as community, a place to call hOMe. It is a great honor to continue my commitment to our mission to preserve, share, and promote the teachings of TriYoga® to foster physical, mental, and spiritual growth and healing within a supportive community. Across time, across space, this Flow endures.
